Vickerstock are delighted to be working with a national Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy who are in the process of establishing a new Belfast office to supplement their existing operations across the UK. Having appointed an Associate Director, they are now looking to strengthen their capabilities through the recruitment of a Principal Engineer. As a business, they specialise in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transport Planning and Geo-Environmental Engineering.
Alongside technical work, the successful individual will have significant opportunities to get involved in business development and team management. If you are currently at a Senior or Associate level do get in touch as, ideally the role will be at Principal, however, could be a grade either side of this.

Your new role as a Principal Engineer
As a Principal Engineer, you will be a key part of the new office, with involvement in design, project management, team management and work winning. You will work closely with the new Associate Director and the wider team across the UK to deliver technical solutions on a range of complex projects. In the first instance, and while the office begins to gain a foothold locally, you are likely to be involved in supporting project delivery across the wider business before focusing on NI projects in time.
What you will need to succeed as a Principal Engineer
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered (or nearly chartered) with a relevant professional body (ICE, IEI, IStructE).
- Strong project experience in line with the core business offerings (Civil, Structural, Transport Planning or Geo-Environmental).
- Experience in management of all project deliverables.
- Experience in business development and work-winning is highly advantageous.
