Role Overview

Our client is seeking a GC Project Manager with Media/Pro AV or AV experience, to lead the delivery of AV integration projects within a Main Contractor environment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing large‑scale (£500k‑£2m) construction‑based AV projects, with strong technical expertise to review CAD drawings, schematics, and technical deliverables. They will possess solid knowledge of JCT contracts and bring a structured, process‑driven approach to project execution, using established PMO methodologies. The role requires matrix management of other project managers, effective configuration and change management, and end‑to‑end ownership of project financials including P&L, forecasting, cost control, and billing.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of large‑scale AV system integration projects for general contractors, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to high client and end‑user satisfaction.
  • Take full ownership of Major GC Projects, including managing contractual documents and project financials.
  • Act as the primary client interface, fostering strong, long‑term relationships and managing all aspects of communication and satisfaction.
  • Establish and grow the major projects delivery capability to support the business’s expansion into the general contractor market.
  • Provide first‑line guidance and escalation support to other project managers within the Major GC stream.
  • Ensure timely coordination of project activities, clear delegation of responsibilities, and the smooth running of internal and client‑facing meetings.
  • Offer support to team members to ensure project success and team collaboration.
  • Maintain consistent communication among all stakeholders and manage project documentation to meet compliance and quality standards.

Essential Criteria

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working in commercial construction trades and environments, with strong health & safety awareness.
  • In‑depth understanding of audio/video systems, their function, and control.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office for finance, change, and configuration management tasks.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to interpret contracts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Physically able to spend extended periods on foot (approx. 40% of the time).
  • Be mobile on construction sites, including using stairs and ladders.
  • Occasionally lift/move materials up to 20 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally (within 2 hours) and occasionally remote.
