What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced accountant who can help us prepare our year-end accounts (to 30 November 2025, due 31 August 2026) and provide guidance to strengthen our financial systems. Essential skills and experience At least 3 years’ experience in accountancy or financial management. Experience preparing year-end accounts for small organisations, ideally charities or CICs. Good knowledge of Companies House requirements and statutory reporting for CICs. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with clear information. Desirable qualities Understanding of small charity/CIC finance and the challenges facing community organisations. Ability to explain financial matters clearly to non-finance colleagues. Willingness to suggest improvements to our financial systems to make future reporting simpler. Personal qualities Reliable, organised, and able to meet deadlines. Supportive and approachable, with a commitment to helping community organisations thrive.
What will you be doing?
Vibrant Voices CIC is a Midlands-based community organisation rooted in Birmingham. We empower underrepresented and disadvantaged communities through arts, culture, wellbeing, leadership, and environmental projects. Our vision is simple when people are heard, communities thrive. We are seeking a volunteer accountant to support us with the preparation of our next set of statutory accounts, covering the period up to 30 November 2025 (filing deadline 31 August 2026). What we’re looking for A qualified or experienced accountant with knowledge of charity or CIC reporting. Someone able to review our financial records and prepare compliant accounts. Advice on improving our internal systems and record-keeping for future years would be a bonus. Tasks may include Reviewing bookkeeping records and transactions. Preparing year-end accounts in line with CIC and Companies House requirements. Offering advice on best practice for financial management in small charities/CICs. Helping us put simple processes in place for future reporting. Time commitmentThis is a short-term project. The work can be done flexibly to suit your availability, as long as accounts are ready by August 2026. We expect this may take a few days’ work in total, spread over several weeks or months. You will work directly with the Director of Vibrant Voices CIC, with clear access to records and information.
