This is an opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager to lead high-value, technically complex mechanical and industrial refrigeration projects for a well-established engineering organisation operating across the UK. You will work on challenging, bespoke projects in demanding environments, supported by experienced technical teams and strong operational leadership.

What you'll be doing as Mechanical Project Manager:

  • Take full responsibility for projects from order acceptance through to customer acceptance and final invoicing.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification, while protecting contractual and commercial interests.
  • Lead, motivate and support project teams.
  • Manage contracts from handover to completion and final payment.
  • Coordinate internal resources, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure manufacture and/or installation meets agreed scope and technical specifications.
  • Monitor project costs, programme, risk, WIP, invoicing and cash flow.
  • Manage variations and additional charges in line with contract conditions.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers and represent their interests.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and health & safety procedures.
  • Produce and maintain full project documentation.
  • Provide regular progress and cost reports to senior management.
  • Support debt collection activities where required.
  • Procure equipment and services within company systems and authority levels.
  • UK travel to customer and supplier sites, with limited EU travel for inspections.

What we're looking for in a Mechanical Project Manager:

  • Confident and commercially aware with a strong engineering background.
  • Proven people management experience.
  • Demonstrable project management experience within Mechanical Engineering, industrial refrigeration, or a closely related sector.
  • Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver contracts profitably and safely.
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred) in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Thermodynamic disciplines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and ideally electrical drawings.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
  • Experience producing project documentation for industrial/commercial refrigeration projects.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics.
  • Understanding of contract conditions and financial management.
