The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

We are looking for a Splicer – Network Maintenance (GB) to ensure the network maintenance of the fibre network in Cumbria. This role will involve proactive maintenance as well as reactive fault and emergency work, which will include weekend work on a rota basis.

The Role

  • Upkeep and maintain fibre infrastructure to current PIA standards
  • Cabling and splicing to repair faults and damage on the network, most frequently overhead
  • Test, diagnose & fault find on Fibre Network Infrastructures using appropriate equipment (OTDR, light meter, splicing kit, etc)
  • Troubleshoot individual and wider network issues
  • Accurately document and report damage and repair work through internal company systems
  • Adherence to all Health and safety procedures, risk assessments and best practices
  • Correct use of equipment and procedures
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
  • Follow maintenance schedules to maximise efficiency and meet strict operational deadlines
  • Overall adherence to health and safety policies and procedures across the business

The Person

  • Knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) process
  • Experience of fibre cabling, splicing and fault finding
  • Experience with overhead infrastructure (poles, ladders, working at height)
  • Ability to use fibre testing equipment and interpret results
  • Organised and proactive approach to workload
  • Good, positive and professional attitude to work
  • Ability to work in a strong team environment
  • Uses own initiative in problem solving and to develop ideas and practices
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach to working hours and tasks
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotas or out of hours work
  • Full UK driving licence
