Role
Anthropic is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) on the Applied AI team to embed directly with strategic enterprise customers, accelerate adoption of Anthropic products, and build production applications powered by Claude models. FDEs pair deep engineering execution with customer‑facing responsibilities to deliver safe, reliable AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build production applications within customer systems using Claude models.
- Deliver technical artifacts for production workflows (e.g., MCP servers, sub-agents, agent skills).
- Provide high‑touch deployment and operational support for enterprise customers.
- Identify, codify, and communicate repeatable deployment patterns back to Product and Engineering.
- Maintain knowledge of LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product stacks.
- Build long‑term customer relationships and surface new opportunities for AI deployment.
- Travel frequently (estimated 25–50%) to work on‑site with customers.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a technical, customer‑facing role (Forward Deployed Engineer, software engineer with consulting/product experience, or similar).
- Production experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
- Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and ideally experience with one or more additional languages (e.g., TypeScript, Java).
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, work under ambiguity, and collaborate across organizations.
- Strong communication skills for discovery and explaining technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in enterprise verticals (financial services, healthcare/life sciences) or enterprise IT systems is a plus.
Logistics
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training.
- Location policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least ~25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.
- Visa sponsorship is available in some cases.
