An exceptional opportunity for an experienced CNC 5-Axis Specialist. Our client is a leading precision engineering manufacturer, producing complex, high-tolerance components for demanding industries. They are looking to recruit an experienced CNC 5-Axis Programmer, Setter and Operator who can take complete ownership of the machining process from offline programming through to production optimisation. This is not an entry-level programming role. We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in complex 5-axis machining who can confidently work independently and deliver right-first-time results.

The Role

  • Programming complex 5-axis CNC machining centres using CAM software
  • Creating and optimising efficient machining strategies
  • Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, CAD models and GD&T
  • Selecting cutting tools, workholding and machining parameters
  • Generating collision-free toolpaths and machine simulations
  • Editing and optimising G-code where required
  • Setting and proving out new jobs
  • Configuring machines for simultaneous 5-axis and 3+2 positional machining
  • Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances
  • Carrying out first-off inspections and quality checks
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and implementing process improvements
  • Supporting continuous improvement, cycle time reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience programming, setting and operating 5-axis CNC machining centres
  • Advanced CAM programming experience
  • Strong understanding of multi-axis machining strategies
  • Excellent knowledge of tooling technologies and cutting parameters
  • Experience machining a wide range of materials
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience producing high-precision, tight tolerance components
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desirable Experience

Experience within aerospace, motorsport, defence, medical or other high-precision engineering environments would be highly advantageous.
