Manufacturing Engineer

A rapidly expanding, global business, at the forefront of fibre optic and photonic technology is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

You will be joining a dynamic team, driving process optimisation, efficiency improvements, and seamless product transitions from NPI to full-scale production.

This role is ideal for a proactive engineer with strong technical expertise in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement (CI), and cost of poor quality (CoPQ) reduction.

You will play a key role in enhancing production yields, cycle times, and root cause analysis while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Act as the subject matter expert for fibre optic, photonic, and modular system manufacturing.
  2. Analyse and optimise production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high product quality.
  3. Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, design engineering, operations, and product management teams to ensure seamless execution of NPI/NPD projects.
  4. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related production issues.
  5. Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), driving cycle time reductions, yield improvements, and waste reduction in line with CoPQ targets.
  6. Ensure manufacturing processes meet safety, regulatory, and quality assurance standards while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  7. Champion LEAN, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
  8. Support employee training and development, ensuring best practices are followed in production.
  9. Assist with engineering change control and product configuration management.

Skills & Experience

  1. Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within fibre optics, photonics, or modular systems.
  3. Strong expertise in product assembly, testing, and handling processes.
  4. Experience with NPI, PFMEA, process validation, and product line transfers.
  5. Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies.
  6. Familiarity with manufacturing metrics such as yield, cycle time, and productivity.
  7. Hands-on experience with fibre optic splicing, alignment systems, and manufacturing tools.
  8. Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) within regulated environments.

An attractive package is available + company bonus scheme, health plan and ongoing training and career development.
