A specialist manufacturer of advanced and bespoke systems now has an outstanding opportunity for a talented and driven Senior Systems Engineer.

The customer base ranges from large semiconductor manufacturers to leading edge research groups, with a range of equipment installations in Europe, Americas and Asia. The company is an Oxford University spin-out and still retains its unique skills in technology and applications.

The Senior Systems Engineer will lead the definition and delivery of the custom advanced platforms/systems. This role is central to the commercial success of the division and requires a commercially focused and pragmatic approach to the design, integration, validation, and delivery of high-precision systems used across research and industrial applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with the sales team and act as the technical bridge between multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, optical, electrical, software), ensuring that complex systems meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements.

  • Commercial: Provide rapid feedback to sales team with system costings, technical details and technical proposals, enabling the sales team to rapidly respond to enquiries and tenders.
  • Systems Engineering & Integration: Own the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle for systems, from concept through to deployment. Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Project & Product Development: Support new product development and continuous improvement of existing systems. An attitude and aptitude to support the commercial success of the business area.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Physics - Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical Engineering
  • Knowledge of optics, motion systems, software or laser interactions
  • Experience of systems engineering
  • Knowledge of project management and V&V processes
