A well-established manufacturer of high-quality specialist equipment now has a requirement for an additional Senior CNC Machinist. The business was founded over 60 years ago and today is an internationally established group, with over 10,000 employees, 50 branch offices and 500 trade and service partners worldwide.
Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Manager, the successful candidate will work within a small team and be responsible for the manufacture of a range of components and associated tooling.
Key Responsibilities:- Predominantly setting and operating multi-axis CNC Turn/Mill equipment with occasional requirement to do the same on 4 axis horizontal mills.
- Loading and running CNC programs through to operation prove out.
- Perform 1st off and subsequent inspection operations.
- Optimise machine programs and machining operation process ensuring consistent quality and production targets.
- Ensure all work produced is to the minimum current Quality Assurance Standards and in line with company works procedures.
- Manufacture components to production plan.
- Assisting in stock control of materials, tooling, and consumables.
- Maintain and complete all documentation for all production work, as required.
- Perform daily/weekly routine machine maintenance checks.
- Mentoring of junior staff, when required.
- A time-served apprentice and or HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous experience in setting and operating multi-axis CNC machines, ideally DMG Mori, NTX 2000 or similar.
- Experience of machining Duplex steels, carbon steels and aluminium alloys.
- Experience of reading and understanding Engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
- Experience in producing high quality close tolerance machined components.
- Work with minimal supervision using own initiative as required.
- Able to assist with training and mentoring of other staff.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Computer literate.
