Junior Manufacturing Engineer The Organisation A great opportunity now exists for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to join a specialist fibre optic manufacturer.

The company works very closely with customers from the birth of new projects, through qualification to product launch, providing manufacturing capabilities including, rapid prototyping, manufacturing qualification support and mass production.

In recent years the organisation has seen significant growth in AI, Quantum Computing, Science and Defence markets.

Job Purpose To support the Manufacturing of existing products and processes to meet stringent customer expectations of timescales, cost and reliability.

The Junior Manufacturing Engineer role is ideal for candidates who have either completed their apprenticeship or a Engineering graduate.

Key Responsibilities To provide daily hands-on Engineering support to the manufacturing team.

To ensure products are manufactured to an agreed specification.

Create and update documentation for the manufacture of products (i. e. work instructions and process cards).

To assist in the training of manufacturing personnel.

Actively working to improve manufacturing yields, product reliability and overall production efficiencies.

Support on-time transfer of products and services to manufacturing from engineering/development.

To participate in continuous improvement activities to deliver process time and manufacturing cost reductions.

Commissioning and maintenance of existing tooling/equipment, and where appropriate identify new equipment needs, including opportunities for investments in automation and / or new processing technologies.

Attend customer and supplier liaison meetings as required, providing technical assistance to customers and Sales.

Drive problem solving Task Teams.

Provide the Quality department with engineering support Skills & Experience

Essential: Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) or an ONC/HNC and background in engineering.

Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9001.

Hands -on with a pragmatic approach and excellent attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.

Good analytical skills, data analysis and presentation.

Sound grasp of statistical techniques.

Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.

Strong team player yet capable of independent and creative thinking.

Desirable: Experience or knowledge of fibre optic product manufacturing and testing.
