What you’ll do
Viasat’s European accounting center is the central accounting hub for Viasat’s legal entities and business operations within Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific (the Group). This accounting center works with and is accountable for transactional accounting and both internal and external reporting requirements of the Group’s business operations. Viasat’s European accounting center works in collaboration with other of Viasat’s accounting centers to generate and lead the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s financial results.
You will have –
- Accountability for the execution and oversight of all general ledger accounting areas within Viasat’s European accounting center, focusing on accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial information.
- Ownership of all general ledger processes and systems which support transactional accounting and period-end financial statement reporting for the Group.
- Design and maintenance of quality processes and financial statement controls which ensure the accuracy and relevance of accounting results.
- Motivating and redefining the general ledger accounting team through multiple corporate initiatives including, but not limited to, process harmonization and system integration.
The day-to-day
- Oversight and control over various general ledger accounting areas, and the respective teams, including:
- Cash
- Prepaid assets
- Accrued liabilities
- Intercompany transactions
- Accounting owner of various financial systems including, but not limited to, SAP ECC and Blackline.
- Accurate & timely reporting of trial balance.
- Maintain and carry out a high quality internal control environment over applicable accounting processes and the general ledger close.
- The internal control environment should bring together the accurate reporting of financial information in accordance with Section 404 of the US Sarbanes Oxley Act.
- High quality documentation for all journal entries.
- High quality accounting reconciliations.
- Detailed account analysis at period ends to facilitate an understanding in accounting movements and analysis of business drivers.
- Owns all finance master data including any associated streamlining and cleansing activity required.
Collaborate with members of the European business to understand, advise on, and accurately transact business operations within the Group’s results.
What you’ll need
- Graduate with an accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience in relevant material roles within high quality companies.
- Proactive individual with the ability and shown experience of optimally running various accounting and shared services projects to a high quality solution simultaneously whilst adhering to deadlines, utilising best practice tools and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant accounting standards: US GAAP and IFRS.
- Strong people skills; impactful, confident, credible and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Able to motivate, lead and influence.
- Strong results-oriented work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with passion for excellence and innovation. Ambassador both within and outside Finance.
- Ability to travel and work across cultures and time zones.
