What You'll Do
The Strategic Initiatives team works to maintain and improve Viasat’s relationships with other satellite operators and ecosystem participants including the purchase, sale and trading of capacity with GEO and NGSO operators, as well as the development of mini-GEO partnerships around the globe. We do this by:
- Cooperating closely with Engineering, Operations, and Regulatory group
- Taking responsibility for Viasat’s satellite planning and orbital strategy
- Seeking maximum utility from Viasat’s asset
- Operating with contingency plans for situations beyond our control
The day-to-day
The Sr Director of Capacity Planning and Optimization will work to evaluate capacity scenarios involving Viasat assets & partner assets to determine optimal business outcomes for Viasat. Responsibilities will include:
- Maintain Viasat’s relationships with operators & ecosystem participants
- Forecast network demand-supply scenarios to inform strategic capital allocation decisions
- Develop a global satellite strategy roadmap and investment cases for infrastructure decisions, as well as managing technical teams responsible for predictive modelling of future network demand vs supply scenarios and subsequent constellation design.
- Capacity management
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Legal and Operational functions
- Manage NGSO partnerships
- Satellite and Orbital slot planning
What You'll Need
- 10+ years of experience in satellite capacity and infrastructure
- Master's degree or higher in Engineering or a related field
- Strategic leadership and business development
