About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Traffic Signal Engineer to join our Highway Electrical team based in Nottinghamshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault finding, repair, and commissioning of a wide range of highway technology assets including traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, CCTV systems, illuminated signs, and other highway electrical equipment.
This is a varied role working across the Nottinghamshire road network, supporting the safe and efficient operation of essential highway infrastructure.
As part of this position, participation in a call-out rota is required to provide emergency response and out-of-hours support.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and reactive maintenance of traffic signal installations.
- Fault find and repair traffic signal equipment and associated electrical systems.
- Install, test and commission traffic signal controllers, detectors, and associated equipment.
- Maintain and repair pedestrian crossings, CCTV systems, VMS signs, ANPR cameras, and other highway electrical assets.
- Perform electrical inspections and testing in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and network incidents.
- Complete work records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Carry out switch off and on works
- Ensure all works are completed safely and in compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Liaise with local authority representatives, contractors, and customers as required.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working on traffic signals and highway electrical infrastructure.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of traffic signal controllers and associated equipment.
- Electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Participate in the call-out rota and undertake occasional out-of-hours work.
- G39 certification.
- ECS or CSCS card.
- Traffic signal commissioning experience.
- Experience working on CCTV, ANPR, VMS, and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
