We are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team based out of our Bilsthorpe Head Office.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the commercial management and reporting of highways maintenance and asset management works, ensuring value for money, prudent cost control, and strong commercial outcomes.
- Support the commercial administration of standalone capital projects and long-term maintenance/term-service contracts, ensuring compliance with NEC principles and contractual obligations.
- Manage and administer subcontract payments, including the assessment of applications and certification, ensuring fair, timely, and contract compliant processes.
- Deliver robust commercial assurance across maintenance and asset programmes, ensuring processes, cost data, rates, and valuations are accurate, compliant, and auditable.
- Support the forecasting process, producing accurate and consistent forecasts for cost, value, cashflow, and margin across reactive and cyclical maintenance programmes.
- At Project Team level, proactively avoid and resolve commercial disputes wherever possible, escalating to the Head of Commercial when appropriate.
- Maintain excellent commercial relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective commercial management of contractors.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Project Team to optimise commercial outcomes for the business.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior commercial team members, helping develop their technical skills, commercial awareness, and understanding of highways maintenance and NEC processes.
- Assist in increasing commercial awareness across the wider business by promoting good commercial practice, supporting teams in understanding commercial implications of operational decisions, and contributing to the development and continual improvement of commercial processes.
- Provide clear, timely commercial reports and insight to the Head of Commercial / Director.
What we’re seeking:
- Degree in Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying or other relevant qualification combined with strong highways and or civil engineering experience.
- Significant experience in quantity surveying, budget management, good contractual awareness and adept at identifying risk.
- Proven experience in optimising commercial outcomes in accordance with contractual obligations and commercial strategy/processes.
- Proven track record of improving profitability, sales and risk position through proactive management of clients and contractors.
- Proven track record of undertaking NEC contract commercial management on highway or civil works.
- Ability to understand and evaluate technical highway and civil engineering drawings and specifications.
- Full Driving Licence.
