Via East Midlands are currently seeking a Senior Highways Improvements Coordinator to join our Highways Infrastructure Team based out of our Trent Bridge House Office in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

Designing improvement schemes, project management, improving public transport infrastructure, consulting with highway users and driving sustainable solutions—we’re shaping the future of Nottinghamshire’s highways to create a safer, more connected community for everyone.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the team to ensure successful delivery of the team's work programme, to meet client expectation.
- Design and manage the delivery of highway improvement projects of varying complexity to achieve quality, programme and financial targets.
- Be responsible for the consultation of traffic orders on behalf of clients to ensure that the legal process is followed correctly, and that effective consultation has been undertaken.
- Manage delivery of traffic regulation orders including resolution of objections, including preparation and submission of formal public reports, ensuring implementation of statutory duties and maintenance of Via’s reputation.
- Provide specialist design and technical advice in permanent traffic regulation orders, highway signage and lining for clients and external bodies, to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation and as a standalone service.
What we’re seeking:
- A HNC or NVQ level 4 in Civil Engineering, or a related subject and post qualification relevant experience, or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering project management environment.
- Ability to manage a team, to make decisions and solve problems to meet team objectives and operational targets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to gain agreement and acceptance of others including colleagues, senior managers and clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively and actively involve colleagues and members of the team.
- Strong ICT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of current design guidelines and standards particularly relating to traffic signing and carriageway lining and other highway features including pedestrian crossings and traffic calming.
- Experience of providing information (including as formal reports) communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders, and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives.
- Full UK driving licence.
