Assistant Project Engineer
Via East Midlands are currently seeking an Assistant Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Design – Projects team based out of our Trent Bridge House Office in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

What you’ll do:
- Design and plan the implementation of highway and civil engineering projects, which may be complex and significant to achieve quality, programme and financial targets, meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
- Assist in the provision of specialist design, technical and cost advice to clients and external bodies to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation and as a standalone service.
- To provide support in the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes on behalf of clients to ensure highway network asset meets regional and national design specification and safety standards.
- Collaborate with Via’s Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow there by achieving company business plan objectives for productivity and profit across design and build functions.
- Maintain communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members to facilitate project delivery and maintain positive company reputation.
What we’re seeking:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering design environment.
- ICT skills with experience in MS Office and the internet plus knowledge of current computer aided design software
- Knowledge of current highway design standards and contracts.
- Knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management and other legislation and good practice appropriate to highway construction and maintenance activities.
- Experience of providing information to, and dealing with, internal and external customers in person or via email or over the phone.
- Ability to plan, make decisions and solve problems to react to outcomes in a work environment.
