Pay Range

Estimated annual earning potential: $80,000–$130,000. Actual earnings may vary based on availability and service volumes.

A Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant at VHA Home HealthCare will provide client-centered clinical care under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist. You will be conducting home visits for the clients of VHA as per the Physiotherapist's/Occupational Therapist's recommendations.

Areas of accountability:

  • Assist/supervise the client with his/her individual prescribed exercise programs or ADL training.
  • Assist/supervise client with walking, transfers, stairs, safe mobility, and positioning using proper body mechanics.
  • Provide client/family education and support to address physical, functional, and self-care needs as assigned.
  • Assist with gross motor, fine motor, and balance activities.
  • Monitor and report changes in health status to the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate in program planning, quality improvement, and evaluation.
  • Document in the client record and collect required data as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma as an OTA/PTA from an accredited college program.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in the community working with geriatric clients with variable diagnoses and multiple co-morbidities.
  • You are a skilled communicator and have a successful track record of coaching/mentoring clients to participate in a professional manner.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate required.
  • Evidence of continuous education.
  • Sound critical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of rehabilitation principles and techniques.
