VH Talent is delighted to be partnering with a well established manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced HSE Lead. This role holds full accountability for Health, Safety & Environmental performance across a busy manufacturing site of approximately 100 employees. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for all HSE matters, working closely with leadership teams to embed best practice, strengthen compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture.

The HSE Lead Role:
* Take full ownership of Health, Safety & Environmental strategy and day-to-day delivery for a manufacturing workforce of circa 100 employees.
* Act as the principal advisor to site leadership and departmental managers on all HSE matters, influencing behaviours and decision-making at all levels.
* Lead the development, review, and implementation of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements across manufacturing operations.
* Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance through data-led analysis, monitoring trends, and delivering targeted improvement plans.
* Manage site HSE performance metrics, including the collection, analysis, and reporting of KPI data within agreed timelines.
* Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation by maintaining and routinely reviewing the legal register and associated controls.
* Plan and deliver engaging HSE training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote a strong and positive safety culture.
* Lead internal HSE audits and inspections, ensuring alignment with company standards and wider group requirements, and closing out actions effectively.
* Maintain and continually improve the site Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001, including environmental impact assessments, objectives, and action plans.
* Champion company wide HSE initiatives, ensuring consistent implementation, employee engagement, and ongoing education across the site.
You’ll need:
* Substantial experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar regulated environment.
* Proven ability to lead, influence, and engage a diverse workforce in HSE matters.
* NEBOSH, IOSH, or an equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification.
* Experience operating within a Continuous Improvement / Lean environment, with a practical, proactive approach.
* Working knowledge of ISO standards; BRC experience would be beneficial.
* Strong communication skills with confidence delivering training and presentations at all organisational levels.
* Previous leadership or site-level ownership experience is highly desirable.
* A relevant degree is advantageous but not essential. xiskglj
