The Offshore Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring mechanical systems and equipment on the East Anglia THREE (EA3) Offshore Wind Farm are installed, tested, and completed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and commissioning requirements. The role supports mechanical completion of wind turbine generators (WTGs), offshore substations (OSS), HVAC systems, structural systems, and lifting equipment. The position plays a key role in system readiness, turnover, and handover to commissioning and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure mechanical completion of offshore assets, including HVAC systems, pipework, rotating equipment, structural elements, cranes, davits, and lifting points.
  • Support development and implementation of mechanical completion checklists, punch list processes, and documentation in the completions management system (CMS).
  • Carry out system walkdowns, inspections, and verification of mechanical installations in collaboration with QA/QC, commissioning, and HSE teams.
  • Review installation documentation such as method statements, test packs, material certificates, and as-built records.
  • Monitor progress of mechanical completion against the project plan and identify constraints or risks to offshore handover milestones.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with Ørsted and contractor HSE requirements, including permit-to-work and isolation procedures.
  • Liaise with mechanical subcontractors to ensure accurate completion of works and effective resolution of mechanical punch items.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams during system energisation, functional checks, and performance testing.
  • Provide input to turnover packages and participate in readiness reviews and handover meetings.
  • Support lessons learned and technical feedback into project documentation and future wind farm phases.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in offshore mechanical construction, completions, or commissioning roles.
  • Experience working on offshore substations, wind turbine platforms, or marine energy infrastructure preferred.
  • Familiarity with lifting systems, rotating machinery, HVAC, and structural interface systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (e.g., EN, ISO, PED, DNV).
  • Understanding of mechanical testing, pressure testing, alignment checks, and commissioning preparation.
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and system boundary documentation.
  • Experience with completions management systems (e.g., Orbit, CoConsole, GoCompletions).
