We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Inspector to support a large-scale Solar PV construction project based in Essex. Working closely with the Project QA/QC Manager and Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring all civil, mechanical and electrical installation activities are delivered in accordance with manufacturer installation requirements, project specifications and quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with previous utility-scale solar experience to join a high-profile renewable energy project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Quality Surveillance
    • Carry out routine site inspections across all phases of construction
    • Monitor and verify quality of ramming activities, foundations, structures, module mounting systems, cabling, trenching, internal roads and associated infrastructure
    • Ensure workmanship meets project specifications and quality requirements
  • Installation Compliance
    • Verify installation activities are completed in accordance with manufacturer's installation manuals and approved construction procedures
    • Inspect and verify torque markings, mounting sequences, cable routing and cable management systems
    • Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Material Traceability
    • Ensure all materials and components delivered to site are correctly identified, recorded and traceable
    • Monitor material tracking systems and verify installation records
  • Documentation & Quality Records
    • Support the progressive compilation of the project Technical Memory documentation
    • Maintain inspection records, quality checklists, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control documentation
    • Ensure all quality records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with project requirements
  • Defect Identification & Reporting
    • Proactively identify technical issues, quality concerns and potential non-conformances
    • Escalate quality "Red Flags" immediately to the Project QA/QC Manager and Project Manager
    • Support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation to minimise rework and delays

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential
    • Proven QA/QC experience on large-scale Solar PV construction projects (minimum 70MW capacity)
    • Relevant HNC / HND
    • Strong understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical construction quality requirements
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and installation manuals
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office application
    • Excellent organisational skills with a methodical approach to record management and material traceability
    • Full availability for the duration of the contract
  • Desirable
    • Previous experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects
    • Experience managing quality documentation including ITPs, inspection records and turnover dossiers
  • Languages: English proficiency is mandatory. Spanish and German language skills will be highly valued
  • Valid UK site access certifications (CSCS or equivalent)
