A highly successful, global business employing more than 50,000 individuals worldwide is looking to engage with a highly qualified and experienced Fire Risk Consultant to undertake Fire Safety ‘walkdowns’ on a new build Battery Production Campus.

Fire Risk Consultant remit:

  • Due to the late start of the project, a mitigation plan is in place for production occupancy whilst fire detection and suppression systems are being completed.
  • Review the mitigation plan and suggest any alternatives or bridging/interim solutions that may improve the plan or speed the readiness of the temporary system to allow faster approval of occupancy.
  • Work with AESC to present options and alternatives to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and participate in meetings with the Building Control and AHJ.
  • Daily inspections of the progress on completing both the permanent fire detection and suppression systems and bringing them in line.
  • Daily inspections of the progress on completing any bridging or interim solutions and bringing them in line.
  • Final acceptance of the fire system as client representative.
  • Fire suppression systems include Vesda, sprinkler, N2, smoke extract, fire compartmentation.
  • Work independently to deliver high-quality Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, Fire Safety Consultancy across the site.
  • Produce reports and demonstrate knowledge, experience and expertise of Fire Safety legislation, standards and best practice.
  • Client relationship management; deal with queries and challenges effectively and appropriately, offering advice and solutions.

Fire Risk Consultant profile:

  • NEBOSH Fire Safety and Management Certificate or higher-level qualification.
  • A Fire Safety accreditation with a recognised professional body.
  • IFSM Tier 2/3 and able to demonstrate competence at Tier 2 and/or 3.
  • Previous 10 years Fire risk consultancy/assessment experience across various environments including heavy industry, Renewables, Construction, high-rise corporate/residential etc.
  • CDM knowledge and understanding beneficial.
  • Liaison with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
  • Must be resident in Sunderland or happy to overnight during the week.
