The Assistant Repairman Aqua maintains water quality, chemistry, filtration, dosing, and the mechanical functions of all pools, fountains, and related aqua systems. This role ensures USPH compliance and daily operational readiness of all aqua venues, including spas and flow-related equipment. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, supports preventive and corrective maintenance, and may cross‑train in other engine or aquatic systems as required. Flexibility to respond to on‑call needs and shift variations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains water quality, chemistry, filtration, dosing, and the mechanical functions of all pools, fountains, and related aqua systems.
  • Ensures USPH compliance and daily operational readiness of all aqua venues, including spas and flow‑related equipment.

Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Staff Engineer, 2nd Engineer/Facilities Manager.

Safety Duties

  • Participates in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions.
  • Always complies with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
  • Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
  • Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in a water park or aquatic facility environment, with at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (as stated) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Valid STCW95 certification.
  • Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
  • Good understanding of carpentry, woodwork, maintenance and repair.
  • Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.
  • Coast Guard, Port State Control and Public Health experience.

Language Requirements

Fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Required to stand, walk long distances, reach and sit.
  • Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders.
  • Lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs.
  • The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules.
