This is a role where you’ll see the impact of your work every day. Whether you’re resolving an electrical fault, carrying out essential safety work or installing a new ventilation system, you’ll be helping customers feel safe, comfortable and confident in their homes. No two days are the same. One day you could be responding to an urgent repair, the next carrying out electrical improvements or helping tackle damp and mould through better ventilation. Whatever the task, you’ll take pride in delivering quality work, getting it right first time wherever possible and providing excellent customer service. If you’re passionate about your trade, enjoy problem-solving and want to make a real difference to people’s lives, this could be the opportunity for you. What you’ll be doing You’ll spend your days working in customers’ homes, carrying out a varied range of electrical repairs, installations, inspections, testing and improvement works. You’ll play an important role in keeping homes safe and well maintained, while supporting initiatives to create healthier living environments. A key part of the role will be installing, maintaining and repairing ventilation systems, including extractor fans and Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) units, helping to reduce damp, mould and condensation. Your responsibilities will include: * Electrical repairs and fault-finding: Diagnose and repair electrical faults, complete remedial works and carry out installations to a high standard. * Testing and certification: Undertake electrical inspections, testing and certification works, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including BS 7671. * Safety improvements: Complete electrical safety upgrades, including consumer unit installations and replacements. * Ventilation and healthier homes: Install, maintain and repair ventilation systems, including extractor fans and PIV units, supporting efforts to reduce damp, mould and condensation. * Planned and improvement works: Support electrical projects across occupied and vacant properties, including kitchen and bathroom improvements and full property rewires where required. * Customer service: Communicate clearly with customers, keeping them informed about the work being carried out and ensuring they feel reassured and respected throughout the process. * Working safely: Follow health and safety legislation, policies and procedures, using tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly. * Working collaboratively: Liaise with colleagues and other teams to resolve issues efficiently, escalating more complex problems where necessary. * Emergency response: Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, attending urgent repairs when required. * Supporting others: Share your knowledge and experience to help apprentices and trainees develop their skills. * Taking responsibility: Look after your company van and equipment, complete regular vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly. Most importantly, you’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude, treating every home with care and every customer with respect and understanding. What we’re looking for We’re looking for a qualified Electrician who takes pride in their work, enjoys finding solutions and understands the importance of delivering a reliable, customer-focused service. You’ll be confident working independently, managing a varied workload and using your technical knowledge to deliver safe, compliant and high-quality work. You’ll also understand the importance of communicating clearly with customers and colleagues, particularly when dealing with urgent repairs or sensitive issues in people’s homes. You’ll need: * NVQ/AM2 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent qualifications. * 2391 Testing and Inspection qualification, or equivalent. * Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification. * A full UK driving licence. Experience in social housing, domestic electrical repairs or ventilation systems would be an advantage. However, we’re equally interested in candidates who bring the right attitude, a commitment to quality and a genuine desire to make a difference. What’s in it for you? We’ll give you the tools and support you need to do your best work, including a fully equipped van, fuel card, tablet, mobile phone and PPE. You’ll also benefit from a package designed to support your wellbeing, work-life balance and future: * 28 days’ annual leave, plus the option to buy and sell leave. * A generous pension scheme, with employer contributions of up to 10%. * Life assurance at five times your annual salary. * Family-friendly and parental leave policies. * Health and wellbeing support to help you look after yourself. * Learning and development opportunities to build your skills and progress your career. You’ll be part of a team that values the work you do and recognises the difference you make to customers every day. Ready to make a difference? If you’re a skilled Electrician who wants to put their expertise to good use, take pride in delivering excellent service and help make homes safer and healthier across Yeovil and the surrounding areas, we’d love to hear from you. Bring your skills, make a difference and help us create safer, healthier homes
