About the Role: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of a major programme of works at Gatwick Airport. Working within a live operational environment, you will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Setting out works in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely and in line with project programmes.
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors on site.
- Producing and maintaining accurate site records, diaries, and progress reports.
- Reviewing engineering drawings and identifying potential issues before works commence.
- Liaising with the design team to resolve technical queries and provide engineering solutions.
- Conducting site inspections and quality checks throughout the construction process.
- Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
- Managing permits, work packages, and site documentation.
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting any risks or delays.
- Supporting project meetings and coordination activities with key stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with airport regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
- Assisting with planning and sequencing works to minimise disruption within the live airport environment.
- Producing as-built information and completion documentation.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong setting-out experience using GPS, Total Stations, and associated surveying equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes and documentation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Previous experience working within airports or other live operational environments.
- Civil engineering, infrastructure, aviation, rail, highways, utilities, or major projects experience.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
- First Aid qualification.
