Contract: 12 Months

Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days on site / 2 remote

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to support works on the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build project. This is a 12-month contract opportunity working within a highly regulated environment, supporting major mechanical and electrical packages on one of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes. Candidates do not need to hold active SC clearance but must be eligible and willing to obtain it.

Role Overview

The M&E Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical works across a range of packages, ensuring compliance with nuclear and regulated environment standards. You will work closely with commercial, engineering and delivery teams to provide robust cost advice and support tender submissions and change control processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed M&E cost estimates including labour, materials, plant and subcontract elements
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Build up rates from first principles where required
  • Support tender submissions and internal bid reviews
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation exercises
  • Liaise with supply chain partners for quotations and benchmarking
  • Provide cost analysis for variations and change events
  • Ensure compliance with HPC nuclear governance and commercial procedures

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as an M&E Estimator on major infrastructure or large-scale construction projects
  • Experience within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, rail or power preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and installation methodologies
  • Experience preparing estimates from concept through to detailed design stage
  • Strong commercial awareness with understanding of NEC forms of contract
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with estimating software

Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid working model - 3 days on site / 2 days remote
  • 12-month contract with potential extension subject to programme requirements
