An experienced Mechanical Package Manager is required to oversee the delivery of complex mechanical works across a major, secure infrastructure project. The role involves managing design reviews, procurement, construction, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications and UK regulations.
Due to the nature of the facility, BPSS security clearance is required (process may take up to 8 weeks).
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all mechanical packages through design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning stages.
- Ensure all works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Review and comment on design documentation to confirm constructability, compliance, and value engineering opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to achieve best-for-project outcomes.
- Implement robust change control, risk management, and progress reporting processes.
- Provide technical leadership and clear direction to site teams, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
- Manage subcontractor performance and ensure all mechanical installations meet statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Support commercial reporting by providing accurate progress updates, cost data, and forecasting information.
- Identify risks and opportunities within your area of control and develop mitigation or enhancement strategies.
- Maintain accurate site records, ensuring compliance with company and legislative standards.
- Ensure appropriate engineering appointments and permits are in place for all mechanical works.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Package Manager or Senior Mechanical Engineer role.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, pumps, and plant installations.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and mechanical packages on large-scale infrastructure, defence, or industrial projects.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of UK construction standards, health.
