An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious OHL Transmission Project Engineer to support the delivery of major overhead line transmission works as part of the Great Grid Upgrade programme with National Grid. This role involves contributing to high-profile overhead line projects ranging from refurbishment works to new build schemes. It offers an excellent opportunity to enhance technical expertise and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor, and lead OHL wiring works across transmission projects.
- Develop crossing schedules and wiring methodologies to support safe and efficient delivery.
- Manage design interfaces and coordinate technical activities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review RAMS to ensure robust safety and operational controls are in place.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to programme, quality, and safety standards.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication and engagement.
- Chair and participate in project meetings, providing updates and technical input.
- Plan and manage OHL resources to meet project milestones.
- Conduct setting-to-work activities to ensure clarity of scope, risks, and control measures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and organisational standards.
- Support client liaison to maintain alignment and resolve issues effectively.
- Complete quality checks and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Produce lookahead schedules to support forecasting and programme delivery.
- Assist with final project handover, ensuring all deliverables meet required standards.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an OHL Site or Project Engineer role.
- Proven track record delivering OHL transmission project elements.
- Experience managing subcontractors effectively.
- Strong technical understanding of OHL transmission methodologies.
- Experience with setting-to-work processes.
- Good working knowledge of relevant safety legislation within OHL transmission environments.
