We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure scheme based at a secure live MOD facility in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer with strong setting out, quality and technical compliance experience to support the safe and accurate delivery of complex civil engineering works.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note this process can take up to 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in managing technical compliance, quality assurance and engineering delivery across your section of works.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings.
- Help establish effective systems to record completed works and update the Project Quality Plan.
- Support the development of quality check sheets and carry out quality checks and surveys.
- Assist with site safety, environmental and quality inspections.
- Support systems that allow progress to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.
- Record and test workmanship and materials, including drainage, concrete, piling and brickwork.
- Provide engineering support to help overcome technical problems and respond to technical queries.
- Set out works within allowable tolerances from provided site control.
- Regularly check setting out points and benchmarks.
- Ensure setting out instruments and measuring equipment are calibrated, recorded and suitable for use.
- Complete daily diaries and keep project trackers up to date.
- Assist with procurement of site materials and equipment.
- Ensure the workforce understands setting out information and that it is suitable for the works being carried out.
- Prepare sketches for site distribution and support clear communication across the team.
- Support implementation of safety, health and environmental management systems.
- Maintain the drawing register.
The successful candidate will have:
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent desirable, such as BSc, BEng, MEng, EngTech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSE EngTech or completion of a Higher Apprenticeship.
- Working towards Chartership or Incorporated status with ICE, IStructE or another relevant professional body would be beneficial.
- Experience using Leica survey equipment, including GPS, Total Station, optical levels and digital levels.
- Strong setting out and survey experience.
- Essential experience in reinforced concrete structures using system formwork.
- Awareness of commercial processes.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
- Experience writing or supporting RAMS.
- Proven people and project management skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good IT skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and out of hours on a rota basis, depending on project requirements.
- Supervisor HSE test.
- CSCS White AQP card.
- Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- First Aid at Work.
- Experience developing ITPs.
- SSSTS.
- Experience in groundworks, earthworks and reinforced concrete.
- Previous experience in nuclear, defence or other highly regulated environments.
