We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure scheme based at a secure live MOD facility in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused QS to support the delivery of complex civil engineering works within a highly regulated environment.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note this process can take up to 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial support across the project, helping to manage cost, value, risk and contractual performance.
- Provide commercial input, including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team.
- Support the delivery of business targets and KPIs.
- Maximise cash flow by ensuring payments are made and received on time.
- Prepare and review monthly cost reports, including analysis of results and trends with the wider contract team.
- Forecast and monitor spend against approved client budgets.
- Carry out physical measurement of works and agree measurements with the client and subcontractors.
- Agree certification and payment of subcontractor accounts.
- Monitor subcontractor accounts against forecasts.
- Support implementation and compliance with contract change control procedures.
- Manage client communications relating to change control where required.
- Manage subcontractors, including issuing enquiries, collating prices, comparing against tender, negotiation, order placement, account agreement and payment.
- Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Support compliance with internal risk management policies and procedures.
- Work in a client-facing capacity, maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.
About You
- Quantity Surveying or commercial qualification, such as HNC, BSc, MSc or equivalent experience.
- CSCS White PQP/AQP card.
- Strong working knowledge and experience of NEC contracts.
- Experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor or commercial role.
- Confident IT skills, including strong MS Office capability, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a highly skilled and diverse team.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Professional accreditation such as RICS, ICE or equivalent.
- Experience using CEMAR.
- Experience working with COINS or Causeway accounting systems.
- Previous experience within defence, nuclear, infrastructure or other highly regulated environments.
