Veterinary Surgeon - genuine work-life balance

Location: Kent

Salary: £45,000 to £80,000

Are you searching for a role where you are genuinely valued and can achieve true work-life balance? Look no further. An independent, family-owned veterinary practice in the picturesque coastal Kent, is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. This well established practice, has grown from a small family venture into a thriving team of over 30 professionals, all while maintaining a supportive and respectful culture.

Imagine working just four days a week with no out-of-hours responsibilities or bank holiday shifts. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing emergency care is handled by a separate on-site company, allowing you to focus on providing excellent care during your regular hours. With only one in four Saturday mornings required, and time off in lieu, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work.

This practice offers clinical freedom and robust support, free from the constraints of targets and KPIs. Whether you aim to pursue a certificate, develop a particular area of interest, or simply enjoy being a well-rounded GP vet, you will find the encouragement and resources you need. The practice values autonomy and supports its vets in building lasting client relationships and practising high-quality, evidence-based medicine.

The purpose-built facilities are designed with both patient care and team wellbeing in mind. Enjoy working in separate feline and canine clinical areas, using state-of-the-art equipment like digital radiography and ultrasound, and taking advantage of dedicated surgical facilities. Spacious staff areas and a fully equipped kitchen ensure you have a comfortable environment to recharge.

Join a team that genuinely enjoys working together. With three experienced vets, talented RVNs, student nurses, and animal care assistants, you’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive environment. Regular clinical discussions, journal clubs, and in-house CPD sessions foster continuous learning, while dedicated admin time and proper lunch breaks ensure you have the time and space to perform your best.

The practice also prides itself on offering continuity of care, working closely with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and rehabilitation professionals. A visiting Advanced Practitioner provides on-site orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue procedures, offering excellent learning opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be MRCVS qualified with experience in small animal practice, enjoying both medicine and surgery. You should value excellent patient and client care, relish building strong relationships, and want to be part of a progressive, independent practice committed to continuous development.

In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary of £45,000–£80,000 DOE, six weeks of holiday plus bank holidays, a generous CPD allowance, and more. The charming area boasts beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, and easy transport links to London, making it a fantastic place to live and work.
