Residential Support Worker opportunities are available in Wadebridge, Cornwall within a children’s residential setting supporting young people to feel safe, heard, and empowered. You’ll be part of a dedicated team delivering individualised care packages that help children build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children’s physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and social needs in line with their individual plans and placement requirements.
  • Promoting the voice of the child, using agreed communication strategies and encouraging choice and independence wherever appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate daily records and completing key admin tasks such as daily journals, handovers, medication documentation, and incident/accident reporting.
  • Following policies, procedures, and risk assessments, responding appropriately to emergencies, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Creating a safe, warm environment, including maintaining high standards of cleanliness in communal areas and supporting children with routines and life skills.
  • Supporting education attendance and engagement, and accompanying children to activities and appointments, including transport when required.
  • Using de-escalation approaches and following agreed behaviour support/PBS plans; intervening physically only when necessary and in line with guidance.
  • Participating in training, meetings, rotas (including sleep-ins and lone working), and contributing to a positive team culture.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and working in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting children or young people in a residential, care, or similar setting (desirable but not essential if you can demonstrate the right values).
  • Willingness to complete all required training and work flexibly, including sleep-in duties and rota-based shifts.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work professionally within a team environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (required).
