Following a very successful year working with SEND schools across South Wales, Vetro Education are now looking for a large number of specialist Teaching Assistants in the Rhondda Cynon Taf LEA. Vetro Education has been approached by a Pupil Referral Unit in Tonypandy following a referral from a long-standing SEND school in the same LEA. We are keen to speak to Teachers and Teaching Assistants experienced in a PRU setting who would be interested in supporting the school on a long term, short term or ad-hoc basis.

One qualification that would be extremely advantageous (and essential in some cases) is Team Teach training. Vetro Education is working with SEND schools on a weekly basis and these schools regularly require staff booked on block/long-term bookings as well as more casual schedules (flexible hours are available).

  • EWC registration (School support worker)
  • Right to work in the UK

How to prepare for a job interview at Vetro Recruitment

Know Your PRU Setting

Familiarise yourself with the specific challenges and needs of a Pupil Referral Unit. Understand the types of students you’ll be working with and think about how your experience aligns with their requirements. This will show that you’re not just interested in the role, but that you’re genuinely prepared for it.

Highlight Relevant Experience

Make sure to emphasise any previous work in SEND settings or similar environments during your interview. Share specific examples of how you’ve supported students with additional needs, especially if you have Team Teach training. This will demonstrate your capability and commitment to the role.

Prepare Questions

Have a few thoughtful questions ready to ask your interviewer. This could be about the school's approach to behaviour management or how they support their staff. It shows that you’re engaged and serious about finding the right fit for both you and the school.

Show Flexibility and Adaptability

Since the role may involve both long-term and ad-hoc positions, express your willingness to be flexible with your schedule. Highlight any past experiences where you successfully adapted to changing circumstances, as this is crucial in a dynamic educational environment.
