Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Wirral, Merseyside, UK
Job Description: We are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
You'll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and make progress in a safe, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEND 1:1 and in small groups
- Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote inclusion within the classroom
- Monitor and record progress and feedback to teachers/SENCO
- Support social, emotional and communication development
- Assist with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists and external professionals
- Support personal care or medical needs where required
- Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children (school, SEND or care setting)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
