We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Regional Manager to join a leading specialist provider of children’s services in the South West. The Deputy Regional Manager will support the Regional Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fostering agency, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker with leadership experience to make a positive impact on children’s lives while working in a flexible, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Manager in developing and managing the fostering service within the South West region.
  • Oversee and supervise the Social Supervising Social Worker (SSSW) team, ensuring compliance with national standards and organisational policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance, and best practice to continually improve service quality.
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of every child is at the centre of decision-making processes.
  • Support the supervision, performance management, and development of SSSWs, including annual appraisals and training plans.
  • Monitor foster carer and children’s files for compliance with standards and policies, including placement and care plans.
  • Foster strong relationships with foster carers, promoting retention and addressing issues promptly.
  • Oversee referrals, matching, and placement decisions, ensuring suitable and safe matches for children.
  • Support complex case decision-making and contribute to safeguarding investigations and reports.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for allegations, investigations, and complaints, reporting to Ofsted and LADO as required.

Requirements

  • Recognised and accredited social work qualification with Social Work England registration.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted standards, Fostering Services Regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Proven experience in children’s social care, with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads, oversee referrals, and carry out quality assurance audits.
  • Commitment to a child-centred approach and safeguarding principles.
