Job Title: Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Location: Swansea

Salary: £35,481 - £39,423 pro rata per annum (equivalent to £45,000 - £50,000 FTE)

Employment Type: Part-time, Term Time Only (41 weeks per year)

Job Description

Our client, a leading education and care provider, is seeking a dedicated Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join their expanding therapy team in Swansea. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a range of communication and learning needs within specialist education settings, helping them develop vital communication skills for both education and daily life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for children and young people with complex needs.
  • Designing and delivering tailored intervention programmes for individual pupils and groups.
  • Supporting learners with communication and interaction difficulties, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and eating and drinking challenges where appropriate.
  • Collaborating closely with education, care, and therapeutic professionals to embed communication strategies throughout the school environment.
  • Providing expert advice, guidance, and coaching to colleagues to improve communication outcomes across the setting.
  • Delivering training sessions for staff, families, and carers to promote consistency in communication approaches.
  • Contributing to EHCP/IDP reviews, multidisciplinary planning meetings, and wider therapy service developments.
  • Championing best practice and evidence-based approaches to communication support.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND frameworks and person-centred practice.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Understanding of AAC, PECS, Makaton, and Dysphagia, or a willingness to undertake further specialist training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
