Romanian Speaking Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Port Talbot Employer: Vetro Education Location: Port Talbot, South Wales Contract Type: Full-time / Long-term Start Date: ASAP Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience About the Role Vetro Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Romanian-speaking Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Port Talbot. This rewarding role involves supporting children in their learning journey — particularly pupils who speak Romanian or have English as an additional language (EAL). You’ll work closely with class teachers and support staff to help pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence in their English language skills, and thrive in a caring, inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities * Support pupils’ learning across the curriculum, individually and in small groups. * Provide targeted support for Romanian-speaking pupils to aid language acquisition and integration. * Assist class teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities. * Help to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. * Support children’s emotional and social development. * Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals where necessary. Requirements * Fluency in Romanian and English (spoken and written). * Experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting. * A patient, caring, and proactive approach. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). * Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
