Are you an experienced and compassionate residential support professional looking to progress into a leadership role? We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support a children’s home caring for young people aged 11–18 with complex Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills within a supportive environment, making a positive impact on young lives. The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure high standards of care and smooth daily operations across the homes in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across both homes, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and regulatory policies.
  • Support and motivate care staff, including supervising shifts, providing guidance, and conducting appraisals.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, liaising with external professionals involved in the young people’s care.
  • Act as a senior point of contact during the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring leadership continuity.
  • Promote a positive, therapeutic environment that supports the emotional and behavioural development of young people.
  • Manage risk assessments and ensure effective implementation of individualised care plans.
  • Support staff in managing challenging behaviours with confidence, applying agreed intervention strategies.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People (essential).
  • Proven experience working within children’s residential care, particularly in EBD settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead shifts confidently and manage challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, regulatory standards, and children’s services legislation.
  • Calm, resilient, and passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives.
