Salary: £27,804.60 - £38,082.60 per annum

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker to join our children’s home in Tonyrefail, supporting up to 4 young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role offers the opportunity to work within a safe, semi‑rural environment where young people feel supported, nurtured, and valued. Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team, including shift leading responsibilities.
  • Ensuring the safety and well‑being of young people by adhering to statutory requirements, health & safety policies, and risk assessments.
  • Supporting young people’s development through personalised care plans and therapeutic activities.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to team meetings and reviews.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Essential QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working in care, preferably with children or young people.
  • A full UK manual driving licence.
  • Minimum age of 22.
  • Passion for making a difference and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure.
  • Flexibility for shift work, including weekends and sleep‑in shifts.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to act as a positive role model.
  • Knowledge of statutory care regulations and health & safety procedures.
  • Desirable: Level 3 qualification specific to children and young people, experience in residential childcare, Welsh speaker, or registration with Social Care Wales.
