We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Refuge Team Leader to join a leading specialist provider supporting adults and children who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm, and violence. The Refuge Team Leader will play a vital role in overseeing trauma‑informed support services across refuges in Torfaen, ensuring a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for residents. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Support Service Coordinator in delivering trauma‑informed support to refuge residents, recognising the impact of abuse and violence.
  • Lead and supervise support staff, including Support Workers, Support Assistants, and Relief team members, supporting recruitment, training, and development.
  • Manage a small caseload, providing direct support to individuals, including risk assessments, support planning, and advocacy.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with legislation and organisational policies, maintaining a trauma‑informed approach.
  • Lead on move‑on and resettlement planning, developing strong referral pathways with housing and support providers.
  • Attend multi‑agency meetings such as MARAC and safeguarding groups, ensuring actions are completed and recorded.
  • Oversee operational health and safety within refuge services, ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.
  • Monitor record‑keeping, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness through regular audits.
  • Manage the rota to ensure adequate staffing and service coverage.
  • Lead regular house meetings with residents, promoting involvement and addressing concerns.
  • Contribute to organisational development projects and internal service improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in supporting adults and children in refuge or similar settings, with trauma‑informed practice knowledge.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising support staff.
  • Excellent communication and safeguarding skills, with the ability to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, with a commitment to trauma‑informed, person‑centred support.
