Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, appropriate to their age.
  • Maintain a homely, friendly environment within the residential home.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Support young people to develop independence and well-being.
  • Ensure a safe environment and keep up-to-date with individual care plans and communication preferences.
  • Develop positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within healthcare or social care settings is advantageous.
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence, as transportation of young people may be required.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • Ability to commute to Plymouth.
  • Passionate about supporting young people aged 8-16 with EBD and eager to develop a career in health and social care.
