Job Overview
Are you a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker ready to step up and help lead a high‑quality residential service? This role in Oswestry supports young people aged 10–16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You’ll work closely with the manager to ensure safe, consistent, and compassionate care—helping young people build confidence, independence, and positive outcomes. If you’re already experienced in children’s residential care, this is a chance to take on greater responsibility and progress your career.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the manager in the day‑to‑day running of the residential service as a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker in Oswestry
- Lead by example and help run the shift, maintaining a calm, supportive environment
- Mentor and support newer staff members, taking greater responsibility for team development
- Encourage young people to engage in activities and take age‑appropriate responsibility for their own lives
- Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment within the home
- Deal with challenging behaviours safely, sympathetically, and in line with care plans
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Support independence and well‑being, promoting positive daily routines
- Maintain a safe environment and keep up‑to‑date knowledge of individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and communication preferences
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals
Requirements
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People (essential)
- Experience in a residential children’s home environment (essential)
- Full driving licence and access to a car (essential)
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with experience supporting teams in a children’s residential setting in Oswestry
