Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to join our residential children’s home in Oswestry, Shropshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a committed team in providing high-quality, trauma-informed care for children and young people with complex needs. Working within a values-driven organisation, you will play a vital part in creating a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading shifts and supporting staff to deliver care in line with individual care plans
- Supervising, guiding, and mentoring care staff to ensure high standards of practice
- Overseeing and contributing to the development and review of care plans, ensuring trauma-informed approaches are maintained
- Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with daily operations and home standards
- Promoting safeguarding procedures and addressing concerns promptly
- Building strong relationships with professionals, families, and external agencies
- Supporting staff training, development, and performance management
- Contributing to home maintenance, record keeping, budgets, and reporting systems
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in residential childcare
- Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
- Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legal frameworks
- Ability to lead by example, act as a role model, and maintain professional boundaries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Resilience, motivation, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins
- A Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a residential setting
- Knowledge of residential childcare regulations and quality standards
- Strong team management and leadership skills
