Job Description:
Our client, a leading childcare provider, is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join their team in Bideford, North Devon. Based within a residential home on the historic port and market town of Bideford, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. As a Support Worker, you will be part of a compassionate team committed to delivering high-quality, personalised care in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishing positive, trusting relationships with children and young people to promote their social, emotional, and physical well-being.
- Supporting children with their education, vocational interests, and social networks, ensuring they feel safe and valued.
- Providing consistent boundaries and behaviour management, including supervising online activity and implementing agreed sanctions when necessary.
- Assisting with daily domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
- Managing healthcare needs, including attending medical appointments and maintaining accurate records.
- Participating in care planning, reviews, and team meetings to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
- Ensuring the physical security of the home, including managing shift keys and locking doors/windows when unoccupied.
- Supporting the admission, discharge, and transition processes for young people entering or leaving the home.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working in a residential childcare setting or similar environment.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
