Are you a patient, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people?
We have an exciting opportunity to join a high school in Newport, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs.
Working within the school's dedicated, purpose-built ASD Base, you'll play an important role in helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and learning potential in a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Learning Support Assistant, no two days will be the same! You'll be making a meaningful difference by:
- Providing tailored support to pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and achieve their potential.
- Understanding individual needs by working closely with school staff and the ALNCO to provide personalised support.
- Supporting learning and behaviour through the implementation of individual learning plans and positive behaviour management strategies.
- Building confidence and independence by encouraging pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
- Creating an inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and encouraged to succeed.
What Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and making a positive impact on their education.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3 months experienceworking with children or young people, ideally within a primary or secondary school setting.
- A patient, caring and proactive approach, with the ability to motivate and encourage pupils.
- An understanding of additional learning needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which would be advantageous.
- A genuine passion for education and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
- An Enhanced DBS Check and the right to work in the UK.
