Job Title: Children's Support Worker (Relief/Temporary)

Location: Merthyr, Wales, UK

Salary: Starting at £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Description

Our client, a leading specialist provider, is seeking compassionate and adaptable Children's Support Workers to join their team in Merthyr. This role offers the flexibility to choose shifts that suit your schedule, making it ideal for students, parents, or those with other commitments. As a Children's Support Worker in Merthyr, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, support children and young people in their daily activities, and contribute to their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people in all daily activities and interests
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
  • Support, promote independence, and enhance the wellbeing of young people
  • Attend weekend and evening activities to support children’s interests, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins
  • Protect children and young people from health and safety risks
  • Provide emotional and practical support within your role
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents

Requirements

  • Relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with young people
  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts
  • Crisis response skills and emotional resilience
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a social care setting
  • TMVA restraint training certificate or willingness to undertake training
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
