We are a leading specialist provider of residential childcare, committed to creating nurturing, stable, and genuinely therapeutic environments for young people. As we prepare to open a brand-new, high-specification 5-bed residential facility for teenagers aged 7 to 17, we are seeking an experienced Registered Manager (Children’s Residential) to lead the home through its Ofsted pre‑registration process and beyond. This role is based in the East Devon / Exeter Area and offers the opportunity to shape a therapeutic culture from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership in East Devon / Exeter Area: establish a foster‑style, emotionally safe environment focused on therapeutic parenting and restorative practice.
  • Lead the Ofsted pre‑registration process for the new home and maintain continuous compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Deliver operational management: implement management rhythms, oversee administrative processes, manage budgets sustainably, and delegate effectively.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a brand-new team, supported by a transition period with existing experienced leadership.
  • Embed PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and trauma‑informed care into daily routines, using high staffing ratios to manage complex behaviours safely and appropriately.

Requirements:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a proven track record with willingness to work towards it.
  • Proven experience at senior or managerial level within a residential children’s home.
  • Trauma‑informed, resilient, and non‑risk‑averse mindset with a strong commitment to therapeutic practice.
  • Exceptional time management, strong organisational and administrative capability, and the ability to balance hands‑on leadership with business oversight.
