We are recruiting a Blended on and off Shift Deputy Manager to support a children’s residential service in Crediton, Devon. This is a hands-on, shift-based leadership role where you’ll help create a safe, nurturing environment and ensure children and young people receive consistent, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading daily shifts, planning tasks, and ensuring staff understand responsibilities within the home in Crediton
  • Supporting children and young people with practical, physical, emotional, educational, and social needs, promoting positive routines and life skills
  • Overseeing medication administration, incident reporting, and adherence to placement plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures
  • Supervising and mentoring staff, supporting inductions, and contributing to probation, appraisals, and ongoing development
  • Assisting with rota management, on-call duties, and deputising for the Registered Manager when required

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Willingness to achieve the Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (or already hold it)
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children in residential care (or a closely related setting)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
  • Basic IT skills (email systems and online platforms)
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, including sleep‑ins and on-call as required
