What you’ll be doing
- Support the children and young people in day-to-day activities and interests
- Maintain restraint training or be willing to undertake a 3‑day course
- Promote the young person’s independence and wellbeing
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children
- Attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests (e.g., climbing, baking, weekends away)
- Protect the children and young people from risks to health and welfare
- Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within the home
- Ensure the safety of young people by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
- Support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
What you’ll need to have
- A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
- At least 6 months experience of working with children or in a similar social care setting
- TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
