Vetro Education is recruiting a Science Technician to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Caerphilly.

You'll become an important part of the Science Department, supporting practical lessons, preparing laboratory equipment and helping create a safe, exciting and engaging learning environment.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Science Technician, you'll work closely with teaching staff to ensure practical science lessons run smoothly and safely.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing practical Science lessons by organising equipment, materials and resources for classroom experiments.
  • Maintaining science laboratories to ensure a safe, organised and effective learning environment.
  • Supporting Science lessons by assisting with practical activities and experiments.
  • Managing laboratory equipment by cleaning, checking, maintaining and safely storing scientific apparatus and materials.
  • Promoting health and safety by following laboratory procedures and ensuring equipment is used and stored correctly.
  • Working alongside teaching staff to provide essential technical support and help bring Science lessons to life.

What Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team and has a genuine interest in Science and education.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in Science or a relevant scientific or technical qualification.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, school or similar technical environment.
  • Knowledge of scientific equipment, laboratory procedures and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A positive, flexible and hardworking approach.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy Science Department.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, including an Enhanced DBS Check.
